Precision Current Profiling: From Centimeter-Scale Channels to Ocean Depths
Full-Spectrum Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCP)
China-Sonar manufactures full-range Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCP) covering 38 kHz to 3 MHz frequency, delivering centimeter-scale to 1000m deep-ocean 3D current velocity and discharge data. Our ADCP portfolio includes downward vertical ADCP and horizontal H-ADCP, equipped with conventional piston transducers and flagship phased array technology, supporting direct reading (DR) and self-contained (SC) modes for USVs, buoys, seabed frames and subsea platforms. Whether for shallow river channels (minimum 0.06m profiling depth) or deep-sea offshore expeditions, our field-proven ADCP sensors meet global hydrology, marine science and coastal engineering monitoring demands.
- Full-Frequency Coverage: 38K / 75K / 150K / 300K / 600K / 1200K / 3 MHz
- Dual-Architecture Mastery: High-reliability conventional piston transducers & flagship electronic Phased Array technology
- All-Platform Adaptability: Configurable in Direct-Reading (DR) or Self-Contained (SC) modes, with native support for USVs, buoys, submersibles, and bottom-mounted frames.

Principle of ADCP
An Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler, or ADCP, measures current speed and flow direction using the well-known Doppler effect. The unit sends out sound pulses through the water, which bounce back off suspended particles and plankton. As water flows, it alters the frequency of these returning signals. By reading these frequency changes, the device captures detailed flow data at different water depths.
We offer two main product lines to suit diverse monitoring needs: vertical ADCP and horizontal H-ADCP. Our vertical ADCP range covers multiple models: the dual-frequency ADCP-R9 designed for extremely shallow water, cost-effective ADCP-1200K, 600K and 300K ideal for rivers and coastal areas, plus phased array ADCP-150K, 75K and 38K built for deep ocean operations. The H-ADCP series works perfectly for long-term horizontal flow tracking across river sections, estuaries and inland waterways.
All our ADCP and H-ADCP devices adopt multi-beam design and solid bottom-tracking functions. They deliver consistent flow profiling and discharge calculation, and can also measure the moving speed of installed platforms. These reliable tools are widely used for hydrological surveys, flood monitoring, coastal projects, offshore site assessment, unmanned vessel observation and deep-sea research.
