DH-4059 Broadband Digital Hydrophone

Integrated Underwater Acoustic Sensing, High-Speed Digitization & Precision Network Sync( 20 Hz to 200 kHz )

The DH-4059 combines a high-sensitivity acoustic element with onboard signal processing in a compact, subsea-rated enclosure. Designed to eliminate analog cable signal degradation, it converts acoustic inputs directly at the sensor node using a 24-bit ADC with sampling rates up to 512 ksps across a 20 Hz to 200 kHz frequency band.

With 100 Mbps Fast Ethernet, IEEE 1588 (PTP) clock synchronization, and onboard MicroSD logging up to 2TB, the DH-4059 operates as a standalone autonomous recorder or a real-time node in synchronized hydrophone arrays.

Key Features

  • Integrated Digital Architecture: Built-in 0 dB pre-amplifier and 24-bit ADC digitize audio at the sensor face, avoiding signal attenuation and EMI over long cable runs.
  • Wide Dynamic Range: Configurable gain (-20 dB to +40 dB) paired with a 220 dB re 1 µPa maximum SPL limit prevents clipping during high-amplitude acoustic events while capturing low-level ambient noise.
  • Microsecond-Level Array Sync: Hardware-supported IEEE 1588 (PTP) and NTP protocols enable sub-microsecond clock alignment across networked units for TDOA source localization and beamforming.
  • Dual-Mode Operation: Supports real-time Ethernet streaming or self-contained logging using internal MicroSD storage (up to 2TB) powered via 12 VDC (1.6 W typical consumption).
  • Subsea Hardware: Encapsulated in polyurethane rubber and TC4 titanium or 316L stainless steel, rated for 300 m working depths with standard 8-pin wet-mateable connectors.
